Memphis Skate Park

Tobey Park is home to Memphis' first neighborhood skate park. Designed by Wormhoudt Inc. and Memphis-based Askew Hargraves Harcourt & Associates Inc., the close to $600,000 skate park was funded out of the City of Memphis capital improvement projects budget, through a request that was originally approved by the Memphis City Council during the 2009 fiscal year. Wormhoudt Design out of Santa Cruz, CA was the original designer of the first skate park in California back in 1964. Ken Wormhoudt, a landscape architect, designed the first acclaimed skate park at Derby Park in Santa Cruz, CA. His son Zach, now the owner of Wormhoudt Design, was the Specialty Designer of the Memphis Skatepark, working with Memphis-based Askew Hargraves Harcourt and Assoc. , a multi-disciplinary design firm.
