Therapeutic riding lessons target physical, social and recreational goals for each individual participant. Southern Reins offers group lessons with 2-4 riders in each class. Classes are 45-50 minutes long and include mounting, exercise and skills development, and dismounting. Some lessons may include a barn or horsemanship lesson to expand the participant’s interaction and connection with their horse or pony. We also offer 30-minute private lessons. Therapeutic riding fees are charged by session at a rate of $50 per lesson (group and private), $150 for the 3 week session.
Hippotherapy is a physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy treatment strategy that utilizes the movement of the horse as part of an integrated intervention program. In conjunction with the affordances of the equine environment and other treatment strategies, Hippotherapy is part of a patient's integrated plan of care and is offered in 4-week sessions at our facility. Southern Reins currently offers Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology through our Hippotherapy program. Hippotherapy fees are charged by session at a rate of $75 for an individual 30-minute session, or $112.50 for an individual 45-minute session. An assessment is required for all new clients with a one-time $25 evaluation fee. For the winter session, costs will be $300.
New participants will be required to fill out a participant application and receive a physician referral before participating. Contact us for more details!
