Historic Memphis Walking Tour

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 03/27/2021
This two-hour walking tour of Memphis explores the city's rich history at a fun and leisurely pace. Memphis has always had sometihng of a dual character or split personality: at once a gracious old Southern city of riverboats and cotton money, as well as a rowdy river town of roughnecks, gangsters and gamblers.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Your guide will highlight both sides of the city’s history and some of the characters who have made Memphis one of the most unique and colorful places in the world.  Along the way you’ll see:

  • Historic Court Square
  • Fourth Bluff Park, overlooking the Mississippi River
  • Civil War sites (the Battle of Memphis and Forrest's Raid)
  • Cotton Row
  • Deadman's Alley
  • Main Street, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s last march

*Please note that guests and guides will be required to wear a mask at all times during the tour. Tour size is limited to 8 guests maximum, and we'll maintain social distancing throughout to ensure a safe experience for all.
