Playdate Theatre's Virtual Drama Club

*The event has already taken place on this date: Thu, 04/15/2021
We are looking for passionate and dedicated young artists to become a part of an ensemble that spans across the country from Hollywood to Broadway. Members of the Drama Club will become a part of Playdate’s Teen Artist Ensemble, a virtual space for workshopping/making creative pieces, community building, learning about new aspects of theater, and forming connections with our Professional Guest Artists. The ensemble will take a deep dive into what makes theater so special.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Details:
Act 1: The Player is our survey course! Open to middle and high school students with any range of theater experience, students will explore the many opportunities in theater. Guest Artists from various disciplines (actors, playwrights, designers, directors, etc.) lead interactive lessons each session. The experience ends with an open mic performance, where each student has a chance to share their work!

Act 2: The Deviser focuses on collaboration and creating content as an ensemble! Open to high school students with 1-3 years of experience, these lessons focus on devising and making art for the digital medium. At the end of each session, the students will have tangible techniques and completed content that they made with their peers. Tier 2 culminates with a final presentation of work that students will make in groups!

Act 3: The Fellow is geared towards seasoned ensemble members who are ready to explore what it means to be an actor in the digital age. Open to high school students with 2+ years of experience, this advanced level will focus on practical skills and need-to-knows that have become essential for every working actor. Tier 3 students will end the program with a presentation of a monologue written specifically for them by a professional playwright. [Coming Summer 2021- contact early if interested]
