Powered by steam-driven paddlewheels, these boats could push upstream against strong currents, opening market routes and establishing Memphis as a major river port. Featuring detailed model boats and original steamboat artifacts, Last Whistle rekindles the charm and romance of the steamboat era while sharing stories and insights about their role in shaping the region. Although the age of steamboats faded in the early 20th century, their legacy continues to evoke memories of a grand chapter in the history of Memphis.
