Celebrate Black Artists - Romare Bearden

Celebrate Black Artists! A series of classes introducing children to black artists and art. This series is open to children in grades Kindergarten-2nd grade. Students will learn about Romare Bearden, his art and create their own Bearden inspired art with Ms. Nyale.

This session is about the life and art of the amazing Romare Bearden. A black American artist recognized as one of the most creative and original visual artists of the twentieth century. Students will learn about Romare Bearden's life, discover and discuss his art in our mini Bearden gallery. Students will discuss what inspired Bearden's collages, how he began creating his collage art and use that for inspiration of their own mixed media collages.
We will have lots of magazines, newspaper, fabric scraps, and access to printing images but feel free to bring personal photos for your child to use in the class.
