Begin your child’s Head Start journey with Porter-Leath. We look forward to welcoming your child into one of our classrooms. Each Head Start location offers high-quality early childhood education in a safe and clean learning environment. Children must be 3 or 4 years old by August 15, 2026 to enroll into Head Start.

Head Start Preschool enrollment has two steps.

Step 1: Fill out Your Child’s Head Start Application
Step 2: Attend an In-person Interview with necessary documents.
The following is a list of documents needed to determine enrollment eligibility:

Parent’s Photo Identification

Proof of Parent’s Address (i.e. MLGW bill, lease or mortgage in parent's name)

Parent/Guardian’s Proof of Income (3 most recent check stubs, 2025 W-2 or 1040)

Certified Copy of Child’s Birth Certificate

Copy of Child's Insurance Card
-
Certificate of Immunization with Current Physical Exam (within 12 mos.)

Well Child Summary
Note: You do not need to bring your child to complete your student’s enrollment.
