Sports Camp

All sports campers swim twice a day; instructional swim in the morning and free swim in the afternoon. Within each sportsn the camp, campers are divided by age and ability, while following the same daily schedule.

Gymnastics - Week 1
Gymnastics campers will learn new gymnastics skills, make friends and have a blast! Each day will be filled with a variety of activities incorporating all four Olympic events; vault, bars, beam, and floor. Gymnastics camp will build strength and self confidence in a safe and fun environment.

Cheerleading and Pom - Week 2
There is so much to cheer about in this fun, high energy week. Campers will learn stunts, dance routines, and multiple cheers. Campers should wear athletic shoes each day to Cheer and Pom Camp.

Soccer - Weeks 2 and 4
Campers will learn new soccer games, run drills, and fine tune their skills with the coaching staff from Purple Rain Soccer Club. Get ready to learn while having tons of FUN.

Flag Football - Week 7
Flag football camp will focus on enhancing campers' knowledge of strategy and plays. Each day campers will enjoy working on offensive and defensive drills, agility, passing, catching, and kicking. Campers will play in scrimmages and have an awesome week of football fun!

Tennis - Weeks 3, 4, and 5
Tennis Campers will learn basic fundamentals including footwork drills, games, strategy, and match play all while having tons of fun! Campers will be grouped according to age and/or skill and are encouraged to bring their own tennis racquet. Space limited to 15 campers per week.

Basketball - Weeks 3 and 8
Anthony Douglass, former University of Memphis Tigers basketball player and experienced coach, is back at the MJCC for an exciting camp filled with action, fun, and basketball development. Campers will focus on fundamental skills and enjoy daily games and competitions.

J Ninja Warrior - Weeks 2 and 6
Participate in fun physical activities with obstacle courses, progressive relays, and team-based challenges. It’s an exciting approach to fitness. Campers will work on coordination/footwork, grip strength, speed agility, balance, general strength/stamina, and mobility. They will use everything from agility ladders, ropes, TRX® Suspension Training, slam balls, body weight, and a whole lot more!

Lacrosse - Week 5
Lacrosse campers will work on stick handling, cradling passing, and catching. Lacrosse Camp provides players of all positions and ability levels the opportunity to improve and refine their game in a positive and fun environment.

Volleyball - Week 7
Ready, set, spike! Designed for beginning and intermediate players (no experience necessary), Volleyball Camp will cover both individual volleyball skills and game strategy. Campers will work on basic stances and movement, passing, setting, and underhand serving techniques.

Martial Arts - Week 8
Experience Aikido, a nonviolent Japanese martial art! Campers will learn defensive techniques, rolling and falling, wooden staff forms, Samurai games, and fitness enhancement drills. Plus, Martial Arts Camp will teach Kidpower® stranger safety and anti-bullying strategies in a safe, confidence building setting. All levels welcome!
